Qatar Airways is the national travel carrier for Qatar. Qatar is an Arabian Gulf State. The airline was re-launched in 1997. The CEO is Mr Akbar Al Baker. In the past few years the airline has become one of the fastest growing travel companies in the world. Their main focus is on providing quality service and personal attention. They continue to expand their travel route network so people have more option of where they can fly.

By the end of 2003, Qatar was flying to 49 destinations. Their destinations included locations in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, the Far East and the Indian subcontinent. They plan to have at least 60 destinations in their network by the end of 2005. Qatar continues to offer more travel flights each week. They use safe, new aircraft.

The Qatar Airways Cargo division provides general airfreight services to most points around the world. They also provide airport-to-airport services to 49 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent.

Qatar signed a US $5.1 billion agreement with Airbus in 2003. This was for 34 more aircraft. By the end of 2008, they will have a fleet of 52 Airbus aircraft. In addition, they signed a US $1.2 billion deal for two A380’s. These will be delivered in 2009 becoming the flagships of their fleet.

The airline will also be the launch customers for the A340-600 High Gross Weight aircraft. In 2006, this aircraft will arrive. They are the first airline in the world to use the A319 Corporate Jet as well as the Long Range version of the A319.

Qatar continues to invest in their hub in Doha. They are also building a new sate-of-the art airport. The first phase of the airport will open in 2008. The cost for this phase will be US $2.5 billion. In 2015, the final phase will be completed.

Travel insurance is important if you are planning to travel. Buying travel insurance that is suitable for your holiday needs is also recommended, if you are planning several holidays through the year then buying multi trip travel insurance policy may be cheaper than individual single trip insurance policies for every destination that you travel to.
