Monarch Airlines
Monarch
Airlines has providing customers with quality travel service
since 1967. When the business first started had they had only
two aircraft. Now they have a fleet of 22 jetliners. Monarch
Airlines flies to over 100 destinations and carries about
5 million people every year.
One of the keys to Monarch’s
success has been the fact that they are willing to change
when the needs of the market change. Back in the early 1970’s
there was a demand for fast travel. Monarch met this demand
by using a modern, all-jet fleet. Several years later, they
became the first charter airline in the world to order the
Boeing 757.
Monarch carried over
1 million passengers in 1981. In 1985, Monarch started their
scheduled division. This was in response to the fact that
many people wanted to travel independently of package tours
for their convenience.
Customers wanted the
ability to book flights that worked with their own schedules.
A £6 million Boeing 757 flight simulator at Luton was
established by Monarch. Their pilots used the similarity and
it was available on hire to other companies.
The Airbus A330 was
added to Monarch’s fleet in 1999. It had a Premium Cabin.
The cabin had many upgrades including in-arm or seat back
video and increased seat pitch. In 2000, Monarch launches
their website. Flights can be scheduled online. By 2001 Monarch
has a workforce of about 3000 people and that year they carry
almost 5 million passengers.
Monarch is one of
the UK's major airline suppliers to the travel operating industry.
They also provide low cost, scheduled travel flights. Each
year they fly over five million passengers. Their network
includes almost 100 destinations. For their scheduled travel
flights, Monarch provides affordable, quality services.
