Flybe
The
history of Flybe can be traced back to 1979. This is when
Intra Airways and Bournemouth merged to form Jersey European.
Walkersteel group took over the company in 1983. For the next
few years travel services with enhanced. New and larger aircraft
was also added to the travel fleet. The airline continued
to grow and succeed.
In 1991, Jersey European
gained their first London route. Then in 1993, they introduced
three British Aerospace 146 Whisper Jets. They were now able
to operate routes from London to Belfast City and the Channel
Islands. A fourth jet was then acquired so they could provide
a serve from Belfast City to Birmingham.
The Business Class service
was then launched and in 1995 more BAe 146 jets were added
to the fleet. Jersey European entered a code-share agreement
with Air Inter. They could now offer flights between London
Stansted and Marseilles.

Today Flybe is the number
among the top low fare travel airlines in the UK. They announced
provisional profit figures of £3.1m for the financial
year 2003/2004. During the 2003/2004-year, they carried 4
million passengers. They anticipate carrying 4.5 million in
2004/2005. In terms of how many passengers they carry, Flybe
is number one in Southampton, Exeter, Birmingham, Isle of
Main and the Channel Islands. They have 31 aircraft in their
fleet.
Flybe has a network of 17
domestic and 25 international destinations. After introducing
new destinations to Jersey, Dublin and Belfast, they became
the largest operator of Southampton Airport. Then, in the
summer of 2003 they introduced several new destinations to
Malaga, Murcia, Toulouse, Alicante, Bergerac and Prague. They
have been continuously adding new travel destinations over
the past couple of years.
At Flybe, they provide
low fare flying options. However, that does not mean they
provide less quality. In fact they strive to offer a high
level of service while still offering low fares. They offer
an ever increasing network as well as safe and comfortable
travel flying solutions.
