Finnair
On November 1923, Finnair
was established. It was then known as Aero/OY. Aero’s
travel flight history started on 14th March, 1924. when it
carried 162 kg of mail. That same year, they started travel
flights to Stockholm in cooperation with a Swedish airline.

Aero wanted more people
to take an interested in travel by flying. They ran 800 sight-seeing
flights in Finland in the year 1925. In 1935, their first
civic airport was open. Scheduled flights within Finland were
introduced in 1937. In 1939, because of the Winter War, civil
aviation was placed under military control. Some flights could
continue but others were too dangerous.
After the war, Aero was
able to resume flights to Tallinn and Stockholm. During The
Contuniation War, Aero found themselves under military control
again. Aero fleet operated extensively both in Finland and
abroad throughout the war. The Finnish State took a majority
holding in Aero in 1946. Thirty percent of the company was
still held by private shareholders. In 1947, Aero adopted
the slogan "Finnish Air Lines. Aero had nine scheduled
routes in Finland and four international routes by
1950. In 1952, the passenger number carried by Finnair went
over 100000. Throughout the years, Finnair continued to add
new scheduled flights and new travel routes. They continued
to add new aircraft to their fleet.
In 1990, Finnair reorganized.
They now had three divisions which were Aviation, Technical
and Commercial Divisions. On December 17, 1995, The total
number of passengers carried by Finnair since it was established,
passed 100-million.. Today, The Finnair Group has many areas
of operation including: scheduled passenger traffic and leisure
traffic, technical and ground handling operations, catering,
travel agencies and reservation services. Around 9000 people
are employed by Finnair Group. There are about 50 international
designations covered by Finnair. Some of the areas they fly
to include: New York and Miami in the United States, Beijing,
Hong Kong and Tokyo in Asia. Inside of Finland, Finnair covers
