Easyjet
Easyjet was founded by Stelios
Haji-Ioannou . They were incorporated in March 1995. They
set out to provide low-cost scheduled air services within
Europe. At the time the advertising campaign said, "Making
flying as affordable as a pair of jeans - £29 one way".
They had had two leased Boeing 737-200 aircraft. On January
1996, they beganthe travel service from Luton to Aberdeen.
The same year, they took control of their first owned aircraft.
In April they went international with services to Amsterdam
from London Luton. Later they began to travel between Nice
and Barcelona from London Luton.
In December of 1997, they
started service to Geneva from Luton. In July 1999, Easyjet
initiated services from Geneva to Nice, Amsterdam and Barcelona.
In January of 2001Easyjet started three new routes from Amsterdam
to Belfast, Edinburgh and Nice. In April they announce how
much they will expand their routes. They will have five new
services which will be Amsterdam to Barcelona and Glasgow;
Belfast to Edinburgh and Glasgow; and London Gatwick to Nice.
Over the next couple years they continue to add new services.
Easyjet keeps their costs
low so that traveling is very affordable. There are several
ways that they keep costs down. They were one of the first
airline companies to recognize the benefits of doing business
online. In fact, 95 % of all seats are sold online. The Internet
allows them to save on the cost of issuing, distributing,
processing and reconciling millions of tickets each year.
When a customer books a flight online, they receive an email
containing their travel details and booking reference.
At Easyjet, they do
not offer free catering online. Again this allows them to
save money and keep costs low. However passengers can purchase
food online. In fact, Easyjet has actually won awards for
their catering service.Whe you travel you could also consider
buying easyjet's travel insurance.They also
use a paperless system. The management and administration
tasks are completed using IT systems. Through these and other
methods, Easyjet continues to offer low cost services.
