China Airlines
China Airlines was established
in Taipei with an initial capitalization of TWD400,000. The
year was 1959 and there were 29 employees. In 1962 they introduced
domestic scheduled travel flights from Taipei to Hualien.
They started an International travel service from Taipei to
Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) in 1966.

In 1988, China Airlines revised
the "China Airlines Strategic Book", and announced
their new vision was to be the most reliable airlines. They
were listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1993. China Airlines
introduced the "Plum blossom" logo in 1995. At this
time they also initiated their with new corporate identity
system.
China Airlines joined forces
with TranAsia Airways and Far Eastern Air Transport to form
Kaoshiung Airport Catering Services, Ltd. That was in March
of 1999. In November the new company began operations. That
month, a Europe bound cargo service began to stop in Delhi,
India. Starting in December a cargo service began stopping
in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
In they year 2000, January-
Shanghai, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Guam branches
were established. The same year, a cargo service to Frankfurt,
Germany, and passenger services to Penang, Malaysia, Medan,
Indonesia, and Delhi. India were introduced. Many more services
were added over the next few years.
The year 2003 was a big year
for new routes. They introduced cargo services to o Chi Minh
City, Vietnam and Manchester, England. Charter flights from
Taipei and Seoul were established as well as passenger services
in Taipei and Hanoi. Passenger services to Brisbane, Australia
were introduced in September 2003.
China Airlines also started
working on strategic alliances in 2003. Code share with Delta
Airlines on their flights to Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas and
Salt Lake City were initiated. They joined forces with China
in September. This made possible the Taipei-Okinawa-Shanghai
services. More expansions were made through alliances with
other airlines.
China Airlines was
awarded the highest award for being the best in the airline
industry by the “Healthy Brand Survey.” They opened
the International Airport in Taichung in March. China Airlines
continues to provide great services and many flights.
