Jamaica
April 1969, Air Jamaica began
operations. They offered non-stop flights from Kingston and
Montego Bay to New York and Miami. The Jamaican government
owned the airline. Air Canada also held a minority interest
in the airline. After time, the Jamaican government acquired
the airline through a "buy-back" agreement.
Over the years, Air Jamaica
continued to expand their routes. When travellng you should

to Europe and Caribbean destinations and later they introduced
service to Baltimore and Washington. Air Jamaica was privatized
in 1994. The Air Jamaica Acquisition group now owned seventy
percent of the airline. The government owned twenty-five percent
and employees could invest in stock, which makes up the final
five percent.
After the privatization,
Air Jamaica began making improvements to an already good service.
The refurbished the interiors of their aircraft and upgraded
services. They now offer a prize winning Chef. They offer
excellent meals on board. Air Jamaica focuses on providing
excellent and friendly service. Air Jamaica is known for their
warm hospitality.
Over 3000 people are employed by Air Jamaica. Air Jamaica
is important to the economy of Jamaica. They offer the newest
fleet of planes that go to the Caribbean. There are daily
lifts of over 9000 seats between all of their airplanes.
Every week they schedule
service with over 360 flights to the Caribbean. They fly out
of New York, Boston, Newark, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore/Washington,
Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Houston, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
They also offer a non-stop flight from between New York and
Kingston, as well as flights to Grenada and Barbados. New
Gateways have been open in London, Manchester, England and
Cuba. Air Jamaica provides great service and enjoyable flights.
When you are travelling,
