In 1923, Cavanna Homes was established. It was at this time that Philip Cavanna moved to Torbay. He brought with him his building expertise. He also brought the “Cavanna-Builders of Repute” slogan to the business. Philip Cavanna was active in the company until his death in 1983.

When the business was still young, things were not easy. However, over the year the years the need for new houses began to grow. With this growth came more success for Cavanna Homes. This was especially true after the Second World War. Cavanna slowly became a leading building company in their area. The company sold over 100 homes each year for the first time beginning after their continued growth in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
