Motor Co.
In 1937 the Toyota Motor Co was founded.
It was a spin off of the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. This
Automobile Company was founded by Sakichi Toyoda . He was
known as Japan’s “King Inventor.” He sold
the patent for one of his machines to a company in UK. The
money from that patent, he used to create an automobile department
in the Toyoda Automatic Loom Work Company. In 1934, work began
on the first car, which was the AA. 1937 saw the establishment
of the Toyota Motor Company.
In 1947, they launched their first small car. In the late
1950’s, the Toyota Production System was established.
There were then less defects at the Toyota plants. In net
and unit sales, Toyota is the third largest automobile manufacturer.
They put out more than 5.5 million vehicles every year.
At Toyota they believe in localizing operations. They want
to give customers what they need where they need them. Toyota
ha a network of design and “research and development
facilities.” They therefore cover the markets in Japan,
Europe and North America.
In 1997 Toyota began producing 4X4 pickup trucks. They introduced
the 4Runners in 1983. In 1984, they began producing 4Runners
with removable hard tops; they stopped producing removable
hard tops in 1990. Over the years they continued to improve
upon their pickup trucks and other 4wheel drive vehicles (such
as the 4Runner).
The Toyota brand has various car insurance groups,
The Toyota Yaris has an exceptionally cheap car insurance
group of 1, while the more prestigous MR2 has insurance group
13. Their 4x4 car, the Toyota Landcruiser has an insurance
group 15.
Toyota established Lexus in 1988. This is a line of Luxury
cars. Just like Toyota’s these cars are long lasting,
quality automobiles. They introduced luxury Lexus SUV hybrids
in 2004.
1997 was the 60th Anniversary for the Toyota Motor Company.
To this day they continue to create innovate cars. Their automobiles
are known for their quality and because they last so long.
Toyota is responsive to the desires of the buying market.
