Subaru Cars

Subaru was originally "The Aircraft Research Laboratory." It was founded in 1917 by Chikuhei Nakajima. The company was reorganized 1931 as "Nakajima Aircraft Co., Ltd." The Zero fighter was designed by this company. After World War II, the company was again reorganized and became Fuji Sangyo Co, Ltd. Using spare aircraft parts, they made their first Rabbit motor scooter in 1946. The company was divided into several smaller corporations four of which merged forming what is known today as Fuji Heavy Industries.

The logo for the corporation’s line of automobiles was the “Subaru” cluster of stars. Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) brought forth the P-1 (Subaru-1500) in 1955. Financial problems made it impossible to sell this vehicle. FHI wanted to build an affordable, “people’s car.” They started production of the 360cc twin cylinder 2 stroke micro car in 1958. It was called the Subaru 360

In 1965, the Subaru division became the first Japanese automaker offering front wheel drive passenger cars in Japan. The export of Subaru cars to the US started in 1968 when Subaru of American, Inc. was established. Then in 1972, FHI became the first to offer four-wheel drive passenger cares in the world. This helped the company expand into the area of car production.

Fuji Heavy Industries has seven automotive manufacturing plants. Five of these plants are located in Japan. With the Subaru-Isuzu Automotive, Inc., plant in Lafayette, Ind. and Ta Ching Motors Co., Ltd., a manufacturing plant in Taiwan there is a constant supply of Subaru vehicles. They can be produced locally and meet the individual needs of those areas.

Subaru continues to offer cars that result in satisfied customers. At Subaru, they work to create automobiles that offer a premium and safe ride. They strive to meet the needs and expectations of customers throughout the world as well as providing buyers with a good value for their money.

There are various car types from Subaru and as such there are varying groups for car insurance. The most common Subaru car in the UK is the Subaru Impreza, the award winning rally car has a high car insurance group to match its high performance capabilities.
