Mercedes
Cars
The Mercedes car range originated from around eighteen sixty
six where two men named Gottleib Daimler and Carl Benz, both
from South Germany, and their passion for engineering. Both
own their separate claims to fame within the engineering and
automotive world, other than starting the world famous Mercedes
Benz: Daimler was a pioneer within the industry having created
the very first internal combustion engine on a vehicle. A
breakthrough that despite over one hundred years later we
still use modified forms of to this day. Carl Benz owned the
original patent, coming up with the idea, for a three wheel
automobile.
The Daimler motor company, running independently, performed
extremely well with Daimler producing four wheel vehicles
throughout the late eighteen hundreds with expansion in eighteen
ninety due to huge demand for their products.
In nineteen hundred a new vehicle of the Daimler range was
produced, and succession of changes occurred which would change
the face of the company until the present form we see today.
The vehicle was the Mercedes automobile – a powerful
racing car (which proved its worth time and again on the racetrack),
christened after the daughter of a major Daimler shareholder.
Then in nineteen twenty six the successful Benz company merged
with Daimler, and thus Mercedes Benz was born.
The car insurance premiums of the Mercedes
car range were high until the launch of the A-Class, a small
town vehicle which has a car insurance group
starting at 4, with some of the range of prestige vehicles
reaching insurance group 20.
Popular Mercedes Benz models in the United Kingdom include:
