The Lotus company was born
from the innovation of a single man – Colin Chapman.
Studying engineering at University he quickly developed a
passion for the industry, and went on to work as a tuner for
racing cars. He tinkered around with vehicles and his work
eventually began to reap rewards, winning various races through
his tuning efforts of an Austin 7.
These performances brought recognition through the industry
for Colin Chapman, with many people wanting to buy the designs
for the car. With the demand for his services, and product,
Colin Chapman started up his own company the ‘Lotus
Engineering Company’ in nineteen fifty two.
Today Lotus has a reputation for producing high performance
vehicles, very popular for those who like the thrill of speed
along with sleek compact designs.

Lotus Elise – the Elise range starts
