Hyundai
Cars
The Hyundai Motor Company is fairly recent
compared to many of the established brand names in automobile
manufacturing that exist. The company was established in nineteen
sixty seven, establishing a strong relationship with the United
Kingdom division of
in order to obtain the necessary production resources to meet
their objectives. However in the nineteen seventies Ford’s
resources were no longer required and the company developed
it’s own vehicles rather than licence foreign models
at relatively high cost to themselves.
The first car Hyundai developed themselves was named ‘Pony’
taking car design from Italy it was a small and compact vehicle
selling very well in Hyundai’s domestic marketplace.
The popularity of the Pony meant Hyundai itself was boosted
to market leader where they remained for over twenty years.
After the company’s initial start up they key to their
growth later in the nineteen eighties was integral to Hyundai
becoming the large operation that they are today – and
that was the expansion of their Ulsan plant to become a high
volume manufacturing centre, allowing increased volume at
a lower cost per piece.
Popular Hyundai models currently available in the
UK are:
Hyundai Getz – one of the new ‘supermini’
breed this range is available from fairly low (one point one
litre) engine size to fairly solid mid range power with the
one point six litre, one hundred and four brake horse power
engine at the top of the tree.
Available as both three and five door vehicles the Hyundai
Getz car insurance cover groups range from three to
six.
Hyundai coupe – sporty looking models
with the engine power to match, offering strong performance
at one point six litre up to the highly powerful two point
seven v6 engine coming in at over eighteen thousand pounds.
Needless to say the insurance groupings for this range are
higher than less sporty models are range from insurance
group eight to group forteen.
