Fiat
Fiat was founded on the eleventh of July eighteen ninety
nine with the Managing Director coming in nineteen zero two
from the board of directors – his name was Giovanni
Agnelli. Fiat’s first factory was opened very shortly
after the company’s creation in nineteen hundred at
Corso Dante. Employed were one hundred and fifty workers two
produce twenty four different cars – quite an extensive
range and production effort for these early years within the
automobile industry. The classic Fiat oval bandge design was
created four years later in ninteteen zero four.
Having established themselves with a strong presence in the
company home of Italy, Fiat expanded their production operations
outside of the country in nineteen zero eight to the rapidly
expanding market in the United States. At this time the company
diversified somewhat with new production lines such commercial
vehicles and trucks.
In nineteen sixteen the new factory of Fiat’s was created
– quite a landmark for the times. The Lingotto factory
was the biggest in Europe occupying five floors and even having
a driving test track on the roof of the building – something
quite unheard of for those times.
During the First World War the company, as many others, came
upon hard times, however strong management kept the Fiat company
growing again after the conflict. A mass production facility
was taken into operation, seen as the only way to lower the
then-expensive automobile prices. The advent of mass production
drove prices down, making cars available to every person and
thus fuelling the popularity for cars, and the worldwide presence
of Fiat that there is today.
