Ferrari
Enzo Ferrari was born in eighteen ninety eight with some
of his earliest engineering experiences coming in the first
World War as the engineer for the famous fighter pilot Francesco
Baracca.
After the first World War excitement was still in the veins
of Ferrari and he became a driver on the successful racing
team of Alfa
Romeo. After successful victories the family of Francesco
Baracca whom he had become close friends with, presented him
with the remaining piece of the daring pilots plane –
a charred plaque presenting the family coat of arms –
a now classic insignia featuring a black horse on a yellow
shield. With such an honour Enzo Ferrari came to use emblem
as his own personal symbol on every car he raced with.
With his success on the racing circuit Ferrari then moved
on to tinker with the internal machinery of the vehicles he
was driving. In nineteen twenty nine, the advent of Alfa
Romeo retiring from racing driving, Ferrari skills both
on and off the track earned him the subsidization of a new
racing company. The company was highly successful however
the second World War stopped this in its tracks.
During the war, some racing teams continued to produce, and
it was at this time that the first actual ‘Ferrari’
named car was produced – an eight cylinder block engine
created from two Fiat engines did not perform very well, however
after the war, and subsequent remodelling attempts the Ferrari
went on to perform very well. In fact the key highlight in
the history of Ferrari was the total domination of racing
circuits for the years nineteen fifty two and nineteen fifty
three where they won virtually all trophies on virtually every
track.
For such an iconic brand and incredibly powerful engines
you would expect the current price of Ferrari’s to be
relatively expensive – and you would be right. Prices
range from just over one hundred thousand pounds two one hundred
and seventy thousand pounds. The power of the racing engines,
and their cost means the group for car insurance cover
is the highest possible at twenty.
