Chrysler
The Chrysler corporation (now a large multinational) was
founded in nineteen twenty five by a man named Walter P Chrysler.
Mr Chrysler was a great automobile enthusiast both with regards
to the engineering of the vehicles (he rebuilt a car before
he could even drive) and the actual driving of them.
Walter Chrysler got his first taste of machinery and engineering
within the railroad industry at the tender age of seventeen.
He saw through his apprenticeship and earned master mechanic’s
papers with the railway continuing a successful career with
them.
After buying his first automobile (which his high ranking
career allow him to do – remember at this time motor
vehicles were very expensive, far out of the reach of the
common man) he became fascinated with them. Continuing his
interest into his career he joined the Buick motor company
in nineteen twelve. Later the Buick company incorporated with
General Motors in nineteen sixteen where became President
of the automotive division.
He retired early, at the age of forty five, however with
multiple requests for his expertise from the automobile industry,
was tempted back from retirement to take various management
and advisory positions.
His key position, and really how the Chrysler corporation
got started, was as Chairman of a reorganisation committee
for Maxwell’s motors. A successful model for the company,
shortly after his appointment, was the Chrysler Six –
the first stylish and modestly priced automobile America had
seen. This success revitalised the company, however a new
company name was introduced along with the reorganisation
as a successor to Maxwell Motors in nineteen twenty five,
its name – Chrysler Corporation. From here the company
continued to produce cars for the masses, rewarded with increased
popularity and booming sales.
In the UK the typical Chrysler models available are jeeps
currently ranging from around fifteen thousand pounds to around
thirty five thousand pounds, car insurance groups
thirteen to seventeen.
