Audi Car Manufacturers
The Audi car company was established in
eighteen ninety nine by a man named August Horch in Cologne,
Germany. Two years was spent in the development of his company’s
first vehicle which was finally completed in nineteen zero
one. In March nineteen zero two the company had quite a
change, moving location and changing into a company which
issued shares. Changing again in nineteen zero four with
a more firm intent for motoring manufacture, the company
name modified to reflect this, now being named A. Horch
& Cie. Motorwagen-Werke AG.
In nineteen twenty one, after years of
producing motor vehicles had its primary first in the industry,
putting it ahead of competitors and gradually beginning
to build a name for itself. Audi was the first German car
manufacturer to produce a left hand drive model- called
the ‘Type K’. Up until this point the cars had
always been right hand drive, an evolution from the horse
and carriage. The new positioning of the driver gave a much
better view of traffic for overtaking etc and was celebrated
for being an innovative and useful modification.
In more recent times the company received
plaudits during the nineteen eighties for its highly distinctive
Audi Quattro range. It was first demonstrated in nineteen
eighty at the Geneva Motor show and caused quite a stir.
It was the first high performance car to feature four-wheel-drive,
something which had only ever been used up until then for
off-road vehicles. The system produced an excellent drive
and subsequently was exported into the whole of the Audi
range.
New Audi cars currently range from
a cost of just over thirteen thousand pounds to top range
models at over seventy thousand pounds. Audi model ranges
are generally quite distinctive and follow a similar naming
convention including: A2, A3, A4, A6, TT Coupe, TT Roadster.
Car insurance groups range from around
five up to twenty.
